Racing New Years Day

I am posting the following for info because Dave has threatened me if I don't...LOL

New Years day doesn't have to be boring this year. Come out to the 1st Ever Hang over 100 at S&H Speedway in Watervliet New York. Doors open at 10am and racing will start at 12:00 sharp! We will have two rounds of heat races and 100 lap features in every division. Plenty of pit space, electric etc...Come enjoy the tight high bank racing at S&H speedway. We also have a fully stocked hobbyshop. Any questions call David Peek (518)365-1728 for further details.

I decided to open up the rules for this race, it's going to be a bunch of fun! The best finishing 100% DODC legal car in every "A" mains will recieve a free entry fee for any regular show at S&H speedway. Handling makes the difference at S&H.....Here are the rules:

Small Block= Any 17.5 Brushless motor and any 5000mah max Lipo battery. All other specs need to be DODC legal, body, chassis etc....

Big Block= Any 13.5 Brushless motor and any 5000mah Lipo battery. All other specs need to be DODC legal, body, chassis etc....

Sprintcar= Open, any motor battery combination you want. All other specs need to be DODC legal, body, Chassis etc.... (front wings allowed)

Late Model= Any 13.5 Brushless motor and any 5000mah max lipo battery. All other specs need to be DODC legal, body, chassis etc...

Main day at the Open Wheel!

Although I did not win one of the big ones, my A main plaque from 13.5 spec sprint is not bad. Bob and I had our ups and downs, but, in the end I think we both did awesome putting 2 cars in the "show" for 13.5 spec sprint, 1 car in the "show" for 13.5 spec late model and my mod edm in the C main. I want to say congratulations to Bob for his great 2nd place finish in the spec sprint A main and also for putting his 13.5 late model in the A main even with the handling issues.

This years Open Wheel Championship was a great experience. Chris and Jackie have an awesome track and put on a great show. Rob Cutman and his crew did a great job, 509 entries and things moved along like clockwork. Congratulations to all involved!

You can take away all of the racing and the best part of this week was the friendships we had going in and the many more we made while there. I also want to especially thank Bob, Sherry and my wonderful wife, for everything!

Now for the mains. Bob and I both made the A main in 13.5 spec sprint which will be run tomorrow afternoon. I made the C main in Mod EDM which will be run sometime between noon and 1pm. Bob also made the A main in 13.5 spec late model. I am happy no matter where I finish tomorrow, it has been fun but, emotional week. 22

Friday is in the books

I did not do very well today, guess i am trying too hard. My mod edm is very fast but, i need to have a clean 4 minute run. My sprint was off the pace today, hopefully it will be better tomorrow. Bob was right there with his sprint again today but, struggled a little with the late model. We both have another go at it tomorrow in the 3rd and final qualifying round.

Our cars ran well today as Bob finished 1st in 13.5 sprint and 2nd in 13.5 late model guaranteeing him spots in the A mains. I finished 4th in 13.5 sprint and 14th in mod edm. my mod was fast but, I had a couple wrecks which knocked me down in the standings. Round 2 tomorrow.

We had a good day at the Sprint Nats as Bob and I both made the A in 13.5, Bob bumped into the A and I bumped into the B mains in Mod, Mike was in the C main first time running mod sprint and Joe qualified in the C main for 13.5. We all had a great time racing with some great guys.

Thurs Night at The Dungeon

Regular night of racing at Redneck tonight. Bob decided to make the trip up and we let him win the Sprint and EDM A mains. Bob's sprint was dialed as always while I was still struggling to fix mine. In EDM, my car was perfect in the heat as I grabbed TQ. Bob and I were almost dead even in the main but, I made one mistake and Bob took the win. It was an awesome race and I again had a great time!

My EDM was real good tonight as I qualified 3rd for the A but, stripped gears in a wreck on lap 2 ended my night. In sprints my car was also quite good but, I got caught up in a couple wrecks and finished 2nd. Brought my Slash to Bash tonight but it could not keep up with the regulars so, I believe I am now retired from Trophy truck...LOL

Thursday night racing

Raced at Red Neck tonight with Mike and Scott. Only enough cars to run 1 class of EDM so they called it Big Block although most were Small Block drivers. We did well as we all qualified in the A but, had issues in the 100 lap feature which prevented us from challenging for the front. In Sprints, my car was still hooked up as I grabbed the pole again this week. This week I was able to keep all 4 shocks attached and survived a wreck filled A main to finish first with Mike right on my tail. Good job to all!

Radio Hill tonight

Had another great time racing at The Hill. I am still searching for that awesome setup but, it still alludes me. I am getting closer and in the mains my cars were decent. I was not the fastest in EDM but, I was in one less wreck than the rest and finished first. I also had my sprint much better but, still got beat by "The King of The Hill" Bob Mott. Scott was able to drive his new desert truck to the A main win first time out, good job!

Racing is done, I qualified outside pole in BB edm and on the pole in sprint. My edm was loose in the A main and I finished 2nd. In sprints I got out to a 2 lap lead then made a mistake and got caught up in someone else's wreck and broke my right front shock. I drove the last 40 laps and still managed a 2nd place finish...

What a day...Mike, Aaron, and myself struggled early as Aaron and I had handling issues and mike was down on power. Mike qualified in the C main and I was in the D main in 17.5 Sportsman. I was able to bump my way into the A main where I finished 5th with worn out tires. What a marathon, after running in 4 heats, I ran in 5 of the 9 mains, 3 back to back, boy did I get my money's worth. Aaron raced in the Outlaw EDM class where he finished 2nd in the A main. I also ran in the 13.5 sprint class where I TQ'd and won the A main.

Competition Hobbies is hosting the WDRA final today. Mike, Aaron and myself are racing today.

Radio Hill Saturday Night

Bob raced at radio hill last night and had a good run as he qualified 2nd (to one of his own cars on lone) and finished 1st in the Big Block A main.

Racing is finished. After bumping up from last seed in the B main into the A, I was able work my way up to a 2nd place finish in 17.5 edm. In sprint I started 6th and finished 5th but I was able to lead for about 35 laps before my tires went away. Another great day of racing!

Finally starting to get caught up after my vacation/wedding trip. We had a great time and the wedding was awesome but, now back to racing. While I was gone, Bob and Mike made a couple of races I was unable to document so, I have the info below.

Chico's WDRA race #6
Mike went to Chico's to race in the WDRA race which had been rained out the week before. Mike qualified 3rd and finished 3rd in a very fast Sportsman 17.5 A main, Congratulations!.

Little O's
Bob made the trip up to Little O's tonight qualifying 2nd and finishing 2nd in the A main 13.5 EDM.

I would also like to give a shout out to Bob on his finishes in the PA Nitro Tour. In the Tour final points standings Bob placed 3rd overall (51 racers) in 13.5 Late Model and 2nd overall (31 racers) in Limited Mod Sprint.
